Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. I snapped a shot of at least one Route 66 sign in each state. This one from Missouri wound up being my favorite from the entire trip.

I try to do as little as possible in post-production - most of my photographs have had nothing more done to them other than a black and white or sepia filter.
