One of the best motor courts we stayed at was the Blue Swallow in Tucumcari, NM. The signs back during Route 66's heyday shouted, "Tucumcari Tonite!" and the Blue Swallow ensures that you want to. The couple that owns it did a great job with the rooms, which are very retro - in a good way - and we spent the evening outside, sitting in chairs and chatting with the couple in the room next to us. If you're lucky, the owners' retrievers will come say hi. Definitely worth the stop.
